Looney Creek is located in Eastern Kentucky and runs through the towns of Lynch, Benham, and Cumberland.
The idea for Looney Creek Bourbon came from two guys who have family roots there and visit the area frequently.
Around 2019-2020 we took the step of working with a distillery on a private label bottling.
Two barrels were produced with already aged sourced 6 year bourbon.
After the initial bottling we decided to produce our own bourbon and partnered with a distillery in Indianapolis to produce and age it.
We are in the process of releasing our first publicly available Looney Creek Bourbon. We will update the site on where to purchase when we have details.
The bourbon is just over 3 years old. Our original idea was to use the actual water from Looney Creek to proof down the bourbon. However, the logistics and requirements of that were not practical. We took a sample of the water from Looney Creek and had it chemically analyzed. Using the reports our distilling partner combined natural elements found in water such as iron, magnesium, potassium, etc. with regular water in the same concentrations as the real Looney Creek to proof down the bourbon.
We hope you like the result! Our supply is very limited, and we hope to do one or two annual releases for the next few years. We’ll see where it goes!
Thank you for your interest and “Get a Little Looney”!
